Can You Reapply For Lyft and Uber

Can you reapply for Uber or Lyft

The short answer is yes, you can reapply to drive for both Uber and Lyft if your application was denied for some reason.  The problems is that neither of these companies are exactly forthcoming with when exactly they will reconsider your application.  There are a few things that can hold you up.

While it is possible to have your application approved on the second look, just keep in mind that your not going to be able to drive for Uber if you’ve had a DWI or DUI.  They’ll typically screen out felons as well.  The rules are a little different in California.

The really unfortunate problem is that neither company is going to be very forthright and tell you the exact reason why you were rejected in the first place.

If you were rejected because of your driving record, there’s almost no point in reapplying.  If there is an error on there, you’re going to have to clear it up with your State.  Only if something changes with your driving record should you bother reapplying.

If, on the other hand, you were rejected because your car was too old, you’re going to need to get one that meets Lyft or Uber Vehicle requirements.  That’s a lot easier to deal with.  The question then becomes, do you want to get a new vehicle to drive for Uber?

Reapplying for Lyft

You’ll need to wait until Lyft officially lets you know why you have been rejected (or hired).  This usually takes a few weeks.  If you don’t hear from them go ahead and contact them.  They’ll let you know why you were rejected

Reapplying for Uber

It’s important to understand that Uber will get back with you and let you know whether or not you have been accepted to drive for them.  So, unless you have gotten a rejection, or it’s been much longer than the 7 to 10 days that they say an application takes to progress, just sit tight and wait.  You haven’t been rejected yet.
